Nothing inspires me quite like a Southern woman. The style, the grace, the wit, the beauty, I know I may be partial, but we have it all! When I set out to create my clothing line, Doll by Dress & Dwell, I created it for the dolls and the darlings of the South. Because I know that it doesn’t matter if your look is dressy or casual, it still has to be girly and classy. I want to share with y’all some of my inspirations behind the line!
I think we can all agree that Coco Chanel pretty much always got it right. But one of her quotes that has always stuck with me is, “A girl should be two things – classy and fabulous.” I wanted every girl who put on any piece from the Doll line to immediately feel as classy and fabulous as she truly is!
No one gives better advice than a Southern grandmother. I was lucky enough to get plenty of gems from mine that I’ve always clung to. One of my favorite things she always told me was “Pretty is as pretty does.” These women who I am lucky enough to play dress up with are beautiful from the inside out! Creating clothes that acts as the perfect accessory to that inner beauty was a dream come true.
In Creating Doll Part 2, I’ll discuss working with designers in LA to bring my line to life and…how I came up with the name!
Stay fabulous, Dolls.
